After a long and successful week of surgery in Chinandega, Nicaragua, LOTWC’s surgical team and non-medical volunteer returned home safely on the 16th and will continue to work with our stateside dental clinic, and stateside surgery until our next mission abroad. LOTWC would like to thank everyone who made this mission to Nicaragua possible and would also like to show recognition to our non-medical volunteer and top bidder from the 2015 Benefit Gala… Alysha Cooper! Alysha is a studying doctor and was very excited to join us! Welcome to the team Alysha!
May 9th, LOTWC’s surgical team and non-medical volunteer took off to Chinandega, Nicaragua. And they made sure not forget anything. For this
mission, LOTWC packed necessary equipment to be able to perform Laparoscopic Orthopedic Surgery for the first time. Nicaragua had no supplies or equipment to perform Laparoscopic surgery, so all equipment and supplies are being sent with LOTWC’s team and coming home with them as well.
We are currently preparing for our next mission trip to Chinandega, Nicaragua! Our surgical team will be leaving on May 9th and will be returning on the May 16th. We are planning to be performing anywhere from 50- 60 Orthopedic and Hernia surgeries.

LOTWC’s held it’s annual Benefit Gala on March 14th at the Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. The night was very successful and consisted of dinner and dancing with live music by Street Talk Orchestra. The live Auction was special this year with two opportunities for bidders to travel with doctors and nurses on separate surgical missions to Nicaragua and Tanzania. Without the support from all guests who attended, all the volunteers, and all those who donate, missions to countries like Nicaragua, Honduras, & Tanzania would not be possible. A special thank you from LOTWC’s to Laurie Schwab, Diana Reddish, and Nancy Pelton for making this year’s Benefit Gala possible!
